Whirlwind

This week has been full of ups and downs.

Down: I had some spotting (last) Sunday night that freaked me out. I called my OBGYN’s office after hours and spoke with a nurse, who said it was probably nothing. To just relax and call in the morning to schedule an ultrasound for that day. Right, relax, I’m great at that.

Up: The spotting did end up being nothing serious. Baby boy is doing great, looks awesome, and even gave us a sweet little profile picture to take home with us. Also, he likes looking at my back and is really sprawled out in there.

Down: I found out that I had an infection in an unmentionable place that was causing the spotting and had to take some gross medication in a gross way. We won’t get into that.

Up: Ever since last Monday, baby boy has been more active and moving around a bunch. He especially likes to move around when I really have to pee. No complaints here, I’m really enjoying it.

Down: I realized, once again, how sucky I am with scheduling, planning, and just overall being organized. I have about 18 weeks to improve these life skills before motherhood happens and stuff really hits the fan.

I have been wanting to start decorating the nursery, but first I have to get the soon-to-be baby’s room cleaned out so that I can actually start thinking paint colors and all that fun stuff. Unfortunately that’s the hard part for me. I’m a dreamer when it comes to home decor/organization, not always a doer. I figured I’d get it all done and then talk about how I went from a sometimes lazybones to this organized, getting-stuff-done Wonder Woman. That hasn’t happened yet. I keep waiting on the nesting bug to kick in, but what if it doesn’t? I’ve decided to get real and share that with the world…NOT EVERYONE IS A NESTER! So, let’s go on this journey together, shall we? I’ll post my dreams and plans for ‘nesting’ in the next blog and all of you lovely people can help keep me accountable. Otherwise, it’ll just be my mom reminding me week after week and I can’t imagine that’s very fun for her. (Right, mom?)

For now, here’s the pregnancy update!

How far along: Twenty two weeks & 2 days.

Gender: Boy!

Weight gain: About 6 lbs.

Maternity clothes: Yes!

Stretch marks: So far so good!

Belly button in or out: In.

Sleep: A few good nights a week, otherwise I’m up every few hours tossing & turning or going potty.

Best moment this week: Feeling the little guy move around a bunch, not sure what he’s doing but he seems to like doing it.

Worst moment this week: The “spotting” incident. I don’t even know if you’d call it spotting, it was very very very light. But still freaked me out.

Miss anything: I found something, trivial, that I miss: Chick-Fil-A Lemonade.

Movement: Yes!

Cravings: Root beer, cookies, and watermelon.

Queasy or sick: Nope!

Looking forward to: Feeling more movement, starting on the nursery, and getting my glucose test over with at the next doctor’s appointment (June 29th)!

That’s what I’m here for Michelle! It may not be fun, but it’s my job! LOL These next few months will fly by. Don’t feel like you have to have it all done before he gets here. You’re going to be a great mommy! I can’t wait to see you and Kevin hold your little guy for the first time! Love you!

Glad to hear spotting wasn’t related to baby Deal. I agree with your mom, don’t feel like you have to have everything pre-planned for the baby. You will quickly adjust being a mommy and your mother instincts will take over. Right now, focus on your rest and taking care of yourself. Love you!
