Why did you start Bliss and Things?

I’ve always loved writing, and I’ve created numerous blogs throughout the year, but none of them ever stuck. Probably because I didn’t really feel I had anything relatable to share with people. In March, my husband and I became pregnant with our first child, and I really wanted to document the pregnancy/share it with friends and family. Sadly, in May, we experienced a missed miscarriage. Since I had already started blogging, and quickly realized just how uncommon it was for women to share this type of experience so openly, I decided I wanted that to change…starting with me. But I didn’t want it to just be a place where I vented and cried to the world about how horrible my circumstances were, I wanted to show other women going through something similar (or completely different) that there’s light in even the darkest situations.

How did you come up with the name?

As I kind of mentioned before, I wanted to show that there’s happiness in even the saddest situations, hence the “bliss”. To me that word means finding joy from within, which for me means trusting in God and His perfect timing, and choosing to not let the pains of this world affect my disposition. The “things” part has to do with my love for sharing everything with others – including the more materialistic things in life, like makeup, technology, books, etc.

What do you do for a living?

I recently graduated with my Masters degree in Counseling, and am licensed as an Intern in the state of Texas, so I’m looking for work in that field!

Why do you have so many dogs?

Harley was my husband, Kevin’s, from before we were together. And…I’m a sucker for cute puppy faces. Three is enough for me, though!
